Why enriching ideas with AI is important
Many ideas are submitted with only a short title or a brief description. While these can capture the essence, they often lack the context or detail needed to evaluate the idea properly.
With AI enrichment, every idea can be expanded into a clear, structured description. This helps innovation managers, project leaders, and steering groups quickly understand the problem, the proposed solution, and the potential impact.
💡 Tip: Richer descriptions mean better scoring and more effective decision-making later in the funnel.
Where you can enrich ideas
You can enrich ideas in two main places:
Innovation Portal: users who submit ideas can enrich them before final submission, making their pitch stronger.
Innovation Studio (Idea Funnel): admins or managers can enrich any idea directly inside the funnel.
This ensures that both end users and admins can create high-quality, detailed ideas.
How the process works
Open an idea.
At the top of the page, go to AI tools.
Select Enrich idea.
AI reviews the title and description and rewrites the description into a structured, detailed version.
The enriched description replaces the old text, but can be reviewed and adjusted by the user.
The process only takes a few seconds and results in a stronger, more complete idea.
Configuring automatic enrichment
Admins can also configure funnels so ideas are enriched automatically. In the lane settings of an idea funnel, you can choose:
Never enrich (default)
Always enrich (every new idea is enriched automatically)
Enrich when word count <100 (only enrich short or incomplete ideas)
This ensures that ideas meet a consistent quality level across the funnel.
Example with InnovationLands
At InnovationLands, many visitors submitted quick ideas like “Interactive waiting line”. With AI enrichment, the description was automatically expanded:
The problem (long waiting times)
The proposed solution (interactive games and digital content in the queue)
The benefit (higher visitor satisfaction)
The enriched idea was clearer, easier to evaluate, and more inspiring for others.
Best practices
Encourage users to enrich ideas early → it helps them think more deeply.
Set automatic enrichment for short ideas → this avoids weak or incomplete entries.
Review enriched content → AI provides a strong base, but users should finalize it.
Combine with scoring → once enriched, ideas can be scored more accurately.
Summary
Enrich ideas with AI makes ideas clearer, stronger, and easier to evaluate:
Works in portal and studio
Expands short descriptions into detailed content
Takes only a few seconds
Configurable per funnel lane: never, always, or if too short
Helps with evaluation, scoring, and decision-making
💡 Recommendation: use enrichment to raise the quality of all ideas and support better innovation outcomes.
