Why scoring ideas with AI is important
Scoring ideas is essential to identify which innovations are most promising. It helps compare ideas within the same funnel and visualize them in graphs for steering committees and decision-making.
However, manual scoring can be difficult, subjective, and time-consuming. AI solves this by applying structured evaluation, consistent scoring, and clear explanations. This leads to better decisions and saves time.
💡 Tip: A strong scoring process builds trust in innovation management decisions.
Where you can score ideas
You can score ideas in the Innovation Studio:
Open a funnel and select an idea.
On the right-hand side, open the scorecard.
Use the option Score idea to let AI score the idea automatically.
Admins can also configure automatic scoring at lane level, so ideas are scored as they move through the funnel.
How the process works
Open an idea with a clear title and description.
Go to the scorecard on the right.
Click Score idea.
AI scores the idea based on:
Company context
Funnel context
Scorecard structure (parent and child criteria, labels, tooltips)
A popup appears with the scoring explanation, highlights, and tips for improvement.
The score and explanation are saved with the idea for future reference.
Preparing your context and scorecards
For accurate AI scoring, make sure:
Company context is complete → Go to Innovation Studio → Settings → Company settings → Context tab. Fill in company goals, scope, and details.
Funnel context is complete → Open the funnel, go to Funnel settings → Context tab, and describe goals, scope, and targets.
Scorecard is well designed → Use clear labels, parent-child structures, and add tooltips. This helps users and AI models understand each criterion.
The better the setup, the more accurate and valuable the AI scoring will be.
Automatic scoring in funnel lanes
Admins can configure lanes in the funnel to trigger automatic scoring:
Never (default)
Always (all ideas in this lane are scored automatically)
Override existing scores (refresh scores even if they exist already)
This is useful when:
Ideas are first submitted → automatically scored for consistency.
Ideas move into a specific “scoring lane” → scored in the background.
💡 Tip: Configure lanes to fit your process, e.g., automatic scoring in the “submitted” lane to save time.
Example with InnovationLands
In InnovationLands, employees submitted many new attraction ideas. After moving them into the evaluation lane, AI scored each idea automatically.
The system considered company strategy and funnel context.
Each idea received scores for feasibility, viability, and desirability.
Explanations highlighted strengths and risks.
The steering group could quickly see which ideas were promising and where improvements were needed.
Best practices
Prepare your contexts → company and funnel details make AI scoring more accurate.
Design clear scorecards → use helpful labels and tooltips.
Review explanations → AI not only scores but provides reasoning and improvement tips.
Use lane automation → ensure consistent scoring across ideas.
Monitor credits → AI scoring requires co-pilot and credits enabled.
